Title : Sales Manager (Location: Richmond, BC)
Reports to : President and Vice President
Job Purpose:
To plan and carry out direct sales to a Contractor based industry and marketing to End Users of the products. Maintain accounts and develop new areas of sales within the Refrigeration and the Energy Saving industry. Develop attack plans in accordance with agreed business directions.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Maintain and develop a computerized customer and prospect database.
2. Plan and carry out direct marketing activities (principally direct mail).
3. Respond to and follow up sales enquiries by email, telephone, and personal visits.
4. Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account support, and liaison with owner and staff.
5. Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information.
6. Carry out market research on competitors.
7. Truly understand what it means to sell a product but also support it.
Scale and territory indicators:
Understand that there is travel in this job,and personal face-to-face visits will require flights to other provinces.
Your territory will be the Western Canada.
Person profile - Sales and Marketing Executive
Personality : Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with middle and senior management. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Well presented and businesslike. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel up to a few days a month within the Western Canada territory. Also travel to US once or twice a year. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team player.
Specific job skills : Able to communicate and motivate via written media. Understands the principles of selling a top product, some marketing and advertising cost-effectiveness. Must be able to read and write fluent English. Other languages are a plus.
Computer skills : Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, basic level, internet and email.
Literacy and numeracy : Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance (e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, list pricing and Net pricing). Must be a very competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals.
Business and selling skills : Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone and email communicator. Able to demonstrate success and experience managing major accounts customers and large contracts. Ideal background would be in the Refrigeration business; experience of compression would be particularly helpful.
Management ability : Though internal staff management is not initially part of the job, responsibility and opportunity could grow with the development of the business.
